Racist Engrish Week at Engrish.com

Click on pic to see entry

Yes, it is Racist Engrish Week at Engrish.com. This means that every day a new photo that contain references to race, racism or are even racist by their very nature will be posted. There is one Engrish photo I took personally that I have been afraid to put up for a while – which will be obvious when you see it this week (make sure to come back this Wednesday if this piques your interest). Engrish.com does not condone racism – we just want to expose it!

As usual any questionable (especially racist) captions will be deleted. First time poster’s captions will be reviewed before allowed on the site, so please be respectful of other’s races.

Adult Engrish – Now Updated Weekly!

For those who enjoy a more raunchy form of Engrish, you are probably aware that we have a separate section that I call “Adult Engrish” (created to protect the innocent from offensive material).

I used to do special themed weeks to introduce these vulgar Engrishes, but since the Adult Engrish is now in a whole separate sub-domain I thought it would be fun to update it weekly. From here on out a new “Adult Engrish” will be posted every Friday. It gets checked here

Adult Engrish of the Week (Click to See)

On another quick note – although many of the Adult Engrish are highly rated by your votes, they will never be seen on the Most Popular Engrish section. Again, this is an attempt to keep the site as family friendly as possible (at least a PG rating anyway).

Chinese iPhone Knockoff Engrish

Wired just found some Engrish used to describe some Chinese knockoffs of the Apple iPhone that are being sold on Actfind (your source for blatant rip offs of intellectual property from China!).

To the right is the “Shake to Control GSM Quad-band IP001” model, which looks like they just lifted an actual photo of the iPhone.  Part of the description of the item says: “Especial function: Shake to elect song, ditheringge elect motif picture.”

The photo here on the left is the “PDA Cell Phone – Shaking Control Phone Unlocked Tri-band P168S“.

I guess you really gotta ‘shake’ these phones a lot to make them work:   “Select next previous song by shaking the phone 3.5 inch Touch Screen QVGA high clear LCD display screen and 1.3 Mega Pixel Digital Camera. Also, it has MP3 MP4 Player function. Besides, it supports dual SIM cards for calling as well as Unlocked SIM card. If you buy now, we will send you 256M Card Free of charge. Now go ahead!”

Yes, lets!

National Punctuation Day

Today is National Punctuation Day which I am sure is an excellent cause for those anal about proper, placement, of, commas. My only concern is that as many overzealous Americans tend to do, they are extending themselves waaayy too far and are heading off to China with their Punctuation Playtime® program.

The fools are off to China!

The fools are off to China!

Why can’t these people just leave well enough alone? It’s not like I am that threatened – there are a billion non-native English speakers in China so policing the entire country would be impossible. But why deprive us of ANY Engrish?

We have so many punctuation errors that need to be addressed here in America. I say we need to take care of our own first.

Pyramid Power Toilet

I received this pic as an Engrish submission back in 2005, but I was unsure what to do with it. It’s not really Engrish per se, but it is a very weird combo:  Pyramid Power + Toilet = ???
What could it possibly mean?

The proponents of pyramid power claim that the energy created from the shape can enhance the nutritional value of foods or even sharpen knives and razor blades – so what are we supposed to expect by visiting this power in the toilet?

Shadow hand music video from ‘Sour’

I thought that this was a pretty cool music video from a band called “Sour” out of Japan – very creative:

Now I have started to search for more shadow hand puppet stuff on Youtube – this can go on all day…

Relief at a Japan Auto Show…

Here’s a real test of the Japanese event companion girl’s composure…

In a way, the Japanese event companion girl is like the British Buckingham Palace Guards – except that they stay smiling no matter what the circumstances.

I am guessing that the origins are a Japan car show, although the boy looks Chinese (and I would expect that most Japanese mothers wouldn’t be doing this sort of thing…).

F*ck Fiat! Brazilian Engrish?

Um… well it’s a new car and we decided to give it a name with real flare. We call it the &%$@ Fiat.

Anyway, click on the image to go to the actual site (warning – contains four letter word that starts with the letter “f”):

F*ck Fiat!

F*ck Fiat!

Even the URL is messed up. Can anyone tell me what “f*ck” means in Portuguese? Apparently the “F*ck Fiat” refers to the name of the car dealership.

Thanks to Eric Gibbs for the tip!

Re-Stickable Stickers at the Engrish.com Store!

We just started selling stickers again at the store. These are better than the bumper stickers that we used to sell since they are vinyl adhesives that can stick and re-stick. Put them on your fridge, laptop, car, etc. and don’t worry about removing them later on – they are easily removable and re-stickable!

Brog readers can use this COUPON to get 10% off any set of stickers:    stick-to-brog
(coupon good until Sept. 30, 2008)
