Osaka Public Service Announcement Pamphlet
There is a new movement in the big cities of Japan to stop people from smoking while walking on crowded sidewalks. Although this may not seem like a big deal to some, it can certainly be bothersome when the sidewalks are jam packed with pedestrians and quite a number of them are smoking.
This district of Osaka thought it was important enough to let their international guests know about their new law prohibiting smoking by making a flyer about it in English – it comes complete with a cute boy relieved that he will no longer receive lasting scars on his face…

Surprise! The English is fine, and they even got the ridiculous appeal to think of the children right.
Just changing place names would believably put this in a crowded area of any U.S. city.
Now I can lay awake at night worrying about being hit in the face by a flying beer bottle.
Actually, I could see that happening. A kid’s face, especially around 4 years old, is right there at the level to get hit by someone’s hand if they are walking and not paying attention. And in a big crowd it might be easy not to see such a small child.
Ouch! If that happens to kids often enough that it’s believable on a PSA poster, I don’t want to go to Osaka. At least, not without a respirator.
IDK why so many smokers think it’s OK to throw their butts all over the place…ew.
*sniff* I just got slammed in the face by a candy wrapper… damn kids! *sniff*
