3-D Animated Views of Old Japan
I have seen a lot of the old 3-D (stereoview) photos of Japan taken by T. Enami (1859-1929) before on Flickr, but Pink Tentacle just posted a bunch of them that were made into animated GIF’s - really bringing the images to life! The following are a sampling from the collection amassed and posted on Flickr by Okinawa Soba (who has an incredible collection).
You can follow the links under each animated GIF for background information.

Very cool! But the net effect is like “Old China during an earthquake…”
I’m afraid that tea is going to be spilled.
I am of terrifarction! The earthing quack is make all tea spill as talked aboves, but also tea drinker, and house of drinker, and land of house of drinker!
Correction - old JAPAN, not China.
I mean obviously, they never could have built the great wall if China shook like that….
Plus the figure at the far left (first picture) seems to be a ghost. Nice Halloween-themed photo…
It’s a very good effect… It does look like an earthquake, but come on guys, these images were made nearly a century ago!
These pictures like me very much.
Wow, these are amazing! It feels like at any moment the people are just going to start walking around. That standing geisha looks really young, like only 11 or 12.
I continue to be amazed at the infinite grace of the Japanese people - if my world shook like that, I’d be running for my depends!
It must’ve been most happyness moment viewing the pictures in a viewing box, must’ve looked awesome!
