Excrement of Deer Souvenir Gifts
Nara, Japan, home of Todaiji - the largest wooden structure in the world - is a major tourist destination that is also known for its tame deer. As any major tourist town in Japan, there is a lot of competition in the ‘omiyage’ (souvenir gift) business, so to stand out from the crowd someone made “Excrement of Deer” peanuts in the shape of - you guessed it - Bambi doodoo. It is not just an eye catcher in English, it says the same thing in Japanese. Apparently these caught on and became a local sensation.

Black olives would be a healthier option.
We have stuff like that in Canada too…
Beaver Droppings, Moose… etc
Come to think of it I’m pretty sure I seen Kangaroo droppings in Australia too.
There is an actual snack called “deer droppings” sold in North America which is the same thing - chocolate-covered peanuts. There are also moose droppings and bear droppings, which can be any variety of nuts or candy covered in chocolate.
Waht the $#%# !?!? That’s a weird name for treats. :S
Lumps and druppings of farm animals would be the same, and they are useful for gardening.
As far as souvenirs go, these are probabally the “crappest” ones ever. They’d make a perfect gift for the in-laws though!
(Please excuse my rather alternative sense of humour here.
)
My roommate brought me a crappy souvenir from Alaska… An actual deer dropping glued to a piece of wood with a hat on its top, rolling plastic eyes and a smiling face…it’s a fridge magnet! Classy.
You can get ceramic sheep droppings souveneers on the Yorkshire Moors, in the UK and my Swedish friend informs me you can buy moose-shit earrings in Sweden.
@pampam that’s gotta be one of the worst jobs, gluing eyes onto dung.
