Cosplay (short for “costume play”) is quite the rage for Otaku everywhere, but it is usually limited to special events and places like Akihabara. Looks like a few people decided to take their cosplay on an excursion here to freak out the masses:
Most cosplay outfits I have seen do not involve masks – maybe this is a special genre of “Mask Cosplay”?

Yup! That is a “special” kind of cosplay called Kigurumi. All the people in those pictures? Probably dudes.
Blondes in America have cosmetic surgery to look like Barbie, I guess this is just Japan’s version.
Actually, Kigurumi mostly means fursuiting. Masked cosplay of a human character is called Animegao.

I saw some kigurumi at the Tokyo International Anime Convention 2008. It was even creepier in person!

According to some articles Animegao is a type of Kirugumi Cosplay. Fursuits is just the more popular type considering it is seen more because theme parks and certain events have people in fursuits.

Animegao is used for some cosplayers,dancers or peformers,so they would never worried about forgetting wigs and make-up!mots of animegao peformers are men.Really weird,eh?
